Lodging owners must determine what tax municipality each of their lodging units are located in for proper collections and reporting of room taxes.

The Village of De Soto and the Town of Wheatland are the only tax jurisdictions represented by the De Soto Area Tourism Commission.

The Town of Freeman is NOT a participant in the De Soto Area Tourism Commission and does NOT collect Room Tax for overnight lodging.

If third party booking agents are used, it is important that the Room Tax proceeds that they collect are sent to the same postal address that your Room Tax Return is sent to.

no open burning is allowed without the approval of the de soto fire chief.

an open burning ban may also be declared by the WI DNr.

the de soto fire chief or his designated officers issue burning permits. call chief chris mussatti (608-648-3303) or Village clerk carrie brudos (609-648-2700) to request a permit. the Permit issuing fee is $5.00
