Start by zooming the map out a bit….you’ll see that De Soto is in Southwestern Wisconsin on State Hwy 35 between La Crosse to the north and Prairie du Chien to the south. It’s about 30 minutes driving time to either La Crosse or Prairie du Chien.
State Hwy 35 follows the eastern shore of the Mississippi River the entire distance between La Crosse and Praire du Chien. There are several villages along the route, each one with it’s own character.
The highways and county roads that intersect State Hwy 35 wind their way up and down through a myriad of ridges and valleys. The Driftless Area scenery is truly beautiful and presents changing vistas for every season of the year.
The streams and woodlands often deliver glimpses of whitetail deer, wild turkeys, coyotes, foxes, bobcats, an occasional black bear, raccoons, bald eagles, hawks, and a myriad of other birds and waterfowl that inhabit the region.
